imran and words

Imran started talking quite early and I think being a chatterbox is something that came from me (and not so much from Dino!) Although he started talking in Malay, he is now speaking quite a lot of English (and Indonesian too when speaking to Bibik!)

I really enjoy conversing with him these days and I find that so many times, I am surprised with the things he says and how quickly he learns new words. And the boy seems to be growing too quickly that I can already imagine how much I will miss this stage of him. If I can, I want to freeze him now and not let him grow up anymore! Since that is not possible (and probably also unfair!), I thought I should at least document some of the things he says so that one day they will serve me as memories when he no longer has so much innocence in him.

One evening just before tucking him to bed,
"Mama, what's that sound?"
"It's the azan from the mosque. They're telling us that it's time for sembahyang"
He looked like he was thinking hard before asking again,
"Sound from where?"
"From the mosque"
A long pause..
"Yang bandaraya fish makan tu?"
I had to think for a while before bursting into laughter
"That's moss Imran, not mosque"

One day while playing with his zoo van toy that his Papa bought for him, he said
"When I grow up I want to be zoo keeper"
"Really?"
"Yes. What you want to be Mama when you grow up biiiiig
(while raising his arms to the sky) like Papa?"
Trying hard not to laugh, I answered
"I think I want to be an architect"
"Architect apa Mama?"
"Architect draw buildings, macam Mama draw on the drawing board tu.."
"Hmmmm... I want to be zoo keeper"

I thought to myself, this is what happens when you decide to be a stay-at-home mum - your child actually thinks that you're not quite biiiiig yet! Oh well, that's part of the sacrifice I guess!
