back from the break

With INSEAD having 5 terms in a year, we are blessed to have breaks in between the terms to explore our world around a little bit! Dino's parents were here too, so we decided to take a drive to Belgium and Amsterdam with them. It was quite nice to do a road trip with only about 3 hours for every stretch : Fonty - Brussels - Amsterdam - Brugge - Fonty. It was great and it's nice to see everybody having a good time - especially the grandparents bonding and doting on their grandson! The little boy, by the way, behaved very well and slept every night in his stroller so we could have nice dinners after a long day of touring around. What a bliss!

Brussels was nice - nothing too fancy, but very real.. and excellent food too! And you could see that the people are happy there somehow. Amsterdam was so pretty, especially when viewed from the boat. While having dinner on the boat, I soon realised that I was dreaming of living in this city that is so elegant. The 'house' (as seen from the photo) is all about its narrow and tall facade, which gives such a mystery about the life behind it. It's also so interesting that all these individual lots have got different floor levels from each other. With bridges criss-crossing the narrow canals, and bycycle being the main mode of transportation - I really wouldn't mind living here for a while!

On the way back, we stopped in Brugge for one night. The whole place is a heritage city and is so quaint and full of character. It really felt like we were being transported into the middle ages. Lovely boutique hotels, art galleries and antique shops make the place even more attractive to me!

It has been busy upon returning back to Fonty - with my in-laws leaving back for home and us receiving Zeti, Mode and Sarah on the same day! So we have been playing host and Imran is enjoying having Kakak Sarah kissing him every few minutes - but then again, who wouldn't!
